The A12 was littered with wheelie bins and recycling boxes as well as House for Sale signs and other debris coupled with loads of surface water it was like an afternoon on the dodgems yesterday

Re: Storm Katie
Me and my bird came out of the casino on southend seafront at 3am on sunday and attempted to walk up the hill to the westcliff hotel. 5 minute walk in normal conditions took over 20 mins, got battered by the wind and rain.

Ted. Were you in Walton on good friday?

Not really sure what the problem is Dave.

Warnings of a big storm
Lots of damage in some areas (none to my area thankfully)

Even if it ends up being milder than predicted and there's no damage anywhere is it surely not better to warn people there's a chance of a storm so precautions can be taken?

Seems to me people love to have something to complain about.

Re: Storm Katie
Def, my rant is at the forecasters. End of last year there was localised flooding here at the local forecast said chance of rain! It just seems that over the past couple of years they are always putting up warnings and they don't happen so when they do us people are caught out.
As for wanting more deaths, that thought is abhorrent as is the suggestion from a man of your intelligence.

Re: Storm Katie
Her car is only the door thats damaged...will tell her to just get a quote to repair and I'll pay it.

The damage on mine is somewhere between 3-5k according to a few people that have had a quick look, so I haven't really got an option with that one! Not been a great month for me personally!

Huffers

these things happen, they will have to claim on their car insurance, it's not your fault.

Huffers 9:41 Tue Mar 29
Re: Storm Katie
Well its a bit of a grey area because it was the house that caused the damage but it does seem it will be car insurance. According to similar cases on the internet, next doors car is just tough luck...I would have to pay for it though, not exactly very nice to just say oh well is it?!

Gates blew down,

Luckily neighbors were around to termporarily sort it, as I was at work yesterday.

Surely your car insurance will cover your car, and house insurance will cover your neighbours?

Re: Storm Katie
Hoping the house insurance covers the damage to the car, although unlikely from what I've read up. Fuck knows what I've got to do about next doors car.

Re: Storm Katie
I'm not sure what's wrong with people nowadays.
People complaining that a storm didn't turn out to be as bad as predicted!!
I guess 105MPH wind gusts, 2 deaths, flights cancelled/diverted, felled trees, cranes and scaffolding isn't enough to warrant being called a storm.
A few more deaths maybe next time?

There have hardly been any storms 'warned' down South this year, most of the 11 'warned' have come across the Atlantic and gone North and battered Scotland because of where the Jet streams been situated.

Re: Storm Katie
Ted, never play that. Reckon this is a case of cry wolf. How many supposed storms have we had this year for then not to materialise? We were told to watch out for bad things here and all I had was a milk bottle blown over.
NS. With your experience of Florida you should know what a real storm is
